A Congo Chronicle: Patrice Lumumba in Urban Art features Congolese urban art, or popular painting, that portrays the life and tragic death of Patrice Lumumba, the first Prime Minister of the Congo after its independence from Belgium in 1960. It consists of approximately 90 works including a series of nearly 50 works by Tshibumba Kanda - Matulu , an influential artist of the 1970's and recent works by other congolese contemporary artists. For more information please e-mail travellingexhibitions@africanart.org. It is interesting to talk about someone’s cultural identity. Not as an opposition, but as a enrichment of the world that originates from cultural diversity. We can not talk about cultural identity without thinking about cultural diversity.  We have to keep fighting to protect and  strengthen our ideologies, certainly against the negative consequences of globalisation trying to make all humans uniform.
